The Fejer brothers built the Mark 1 Chinook to join the USRRC and Can-Am series prototype class in 1966 alongside more famous brands like McLaren and Lola. The chassis design was largely borrowed from the McLaren M1, and the bodywork resembled the Chaparral 2A. For the Mark 2, small changes were made to make the aerodynamics more in line with what other competitors were doing, including the wide front splitters, vents behind the front tires, and very tall rear spoiler. Multiple customer cars were built in this configuration.

Small teams with small budgets, they were powered by small block Chevrolet engines that produced enough power for the lightweight chassis, put through a Hewland transmission to the rear tires, but they had teething issues their first seasons and then the series had advanced to the point they weren't competitive. A Mark 5 followed, with the extremely large wing above the rear axle that was popular in 1968, and then the manufacturer left prototype racing to focus on small open-wheelers.
